I use a method different from either of the two above.  After
setting the chips in the RBT mount, I turn it over (so the
chips are facing away from me), and stand it vertically on
edge.  I then place the cardboard mount behind the jig and
use the surface of the table itself as the straight edge to
align the two mounts.  Once aligned, squeeze them tightly
together while laying them flat on the table, then tape the
chips in place.  Advantage: I'm more confident I can keep
the two mounts aligned during the transfer process.  YMMV.
Any of the above methods should work fine after a little
practice.
