George
First, my apologies for insisting on how my Realist flash didn't work. A
simple experiment this evening indicated that my electronic flash fires
at all shutter speeds. I just hadn't tried it in the last 30 or so years,
having been conditioned by the 1/25s synchronization limit for flash
bulbs and electronic flash as stated in the 1952 Tydings book.
Second, synchronization of my electronic flash at those speeds is another
matter and when I finish the current roll in my camera I will check the
flash synchronization at all shutter speeds without film in the camera.
At that time, I will also use your suggestions to correct the light leak
which has developed within the past year, after about 4000 excellent
pictures taken around the world over a period of 48 years.
Third, thanks for your offer to fix my camera. I'll only take that up if
I mess up my camera in correcting any of the above. I have received your
new manual on "all you need to know about your Stereo Realist." It is
very well done and will be a big help to me in repairing and
reconditioning my own.
