     To follow-up on George's comments on AF (from another S1 user):

     In particular, when taking photos of people, the number one
     rule is that their eyes should be sharp since that is the
     first place the viewer looks at with a photo of a person, or 
     an animal for that matter.  And for me, even with a stereo
     photo, having an out of focus background for close up 
     photos of people still usually looks good.  

     Of course in a flattie portrait, it is usually *very*
     desirable to have a soft focus background since it makes
     the sharp image of the person 'pop-out'.  Obviously
     with a good 3D portrait this can be achieved by other
     means.  ^_^
