When I was in high school, I came across an article in a magazine about how to
build a beamsplitter using a clipboard, a couple mirrors and hinges, and a
couple of library-style bookends that could be used for shooting and projector
polarized super 8mm. So I built it, and shot film, and projected it all
through the same splitter, and it worked! It was crude to say the least, but
as long as I kept all the action on roughly the same plane, it would stay in
3D. The next time I'm home to visit my parents, which is next weeked, I will
try to find the article and let you know the details.
