RE: [photo-3d] Digital Is Good for Film

While I think that digital images are certainly the wave of the future let
me sound one cautionary note. The longevity of a digital image is only as
good as the medium it is stored on and the format used to store it. Does
anyone remember 8 inch floppy disks? What about 2 inch tapes? There are
literally mountains of data stored in warehouses that are simply unreadable
because the storage medium is obsolete or no one remembers how to decode the
data format (or in some cases, even what the data means). The dye from your
printer will fade and at some point so with the method you used to store the
image.
If you think I'm being silly here just ask a librarian about how they plan
to archive digital data. It is a pending nightmare.
