I recently started using Spicer mounts and am a total convert
now. The range of cropping choice is outstanding, they are
nicely made and very economical. There is a certain hurdle you
have to overcome to develop and get comfortable with your
techniques, since the process demands considerable precision
and attention to detail. But you then have complete freedom to
move the chips around, rather than in vertical increments as with
convenient RBT mounts. The Spicer windows have nicely
rounded corners, the edges are almost always perfectly sharp,
the list of virtues could go on...

And jigs based on RBT mount halves are fantastic tools to use
with Spicer mounts. They make setting the window easy and
facilitate the transfer and collocation of the chips on the paper
mount. It's fun when you get the knack for precise mounting, and
IMO Spicer mounts do a lot to make this possible.
