I have a FED BOY and would like the same information. I would think
that the M and the BOY worked the same on automatic but of course
don't know for sure.
I did a test to try to find out something myself on this:
I set the ASA on 100 and with the back off and the camera outside on
a sunny day, I triped the shutter, and looking through a lens,
observed the size of the aperture. I then compared the remembered
size to several sizes I got while setting the aperture manually. (I
did this several times) It looked like F11 to me. I figure on ASA
100 in the sun it is F11 @ 1/200. Pointing the camera toward less
light I got the same F stop.
I assumed that it was keeping the same F stop and adjusting the speed
for light conditions.
I changed the ASA to 50 and tested again. The F stop opened up to
what looked like F8 and stayed there for different light levels.
I moved to ASA 400 and the aperture got smaller then F11.
I didn't test it for greatly reduced light to find out when it would
start opening up the aperture, but plan to when I finish off the roll
I started after doing this short test.
I know this doesn't answer your question but it is a start.
