[photo-3d] Re:Cardboard and Kodachrome

I tend to shoot E-6 almost all the time because I live three blocks from a
lab that does three runs a day (I love my neighborhood)! I still shoot
Kodachrome 25 when I want that gorgeous Kodachrome look and I'm able to delay
gratification.
One thread of this discussion I find interesting is the issue of
"superiority". While Provia may be "superior" in many respects, it doesn't
look the same as Kodachrome. If you like the Kodachrome look, run with it.
I've never felt ANY film was the one for ALL situations. As much as I shoot
E-6, I'll be grief stricken if production stops on K25.
As for cardboard mounts and "speedy" mounting, I'm with John (Stuart?) all
the way.
>>100%. My intention isn't to mount them (cardboard mounts) to
projection precision. I admit it. I'm simple. It just isn't a big
deal to me. I admire other people who do it that way. But, after I'm
done mounting the roll and take a look at the slides, I'm happy,
really, I'm happy. :) Isn't that what matters?<<
I use them on 99% of my slides and love them. I don't know how long it
takes me to do a roll, but it's not long thanks to my mini-light box and
alignment gauge. I occasionally readjust the window but never worry about
vertical alignment. Either my eyes/brain are very forgiving or I'm doing
something right because I rarely have any problems. True, I don't have a
projector, but I have taken my slides to SCSC meetings and they haven't been
criticized due to mounting errors. Also, I was in the Beta Folio at one time
and didn't catch any static over mounting. I can't figure out what you guys
are doing with all your gigs/glass mounts/etc. I guess if I knew better I'd
abandon cardboard, too, but for now, ignorance is bliss.
