David echoes my sentiments exactly. Discussion about 3D topics
is what we are here for. Even though some tried to squelch this
on-topic thread, even while starting an off topic one like "why
don't you use Kodachrome," I believe this topic has been more than
validated by the "I've learned a lot from this" comments that have
appeared here.

John speculated about whether I might have an involvement in Spicer
mounts to cause what he took as perhaps an unusually impassioned
response from the normally mild-mannered Paul Talbot! ;-) Perhaps
he overlooked the fact that as owner of Rocky Mountain Memories, the
sole authorized U.S. distributor of those mounts, I am not anxious
to see misunderstandings about them promulgated. But truthfully,
that is not what caused my reaction. The experiences that Don Parks
and I have had over the past year in working on new mount designs
(see previous post) has given me an unfathomable amount of respect,
appreciation, and admiration for what Steve Spicer managed to accomplish
with his stereo mount design and production. It is just not possible,
IMO, to completely appreciate how good the Spicer mounts are until you
have tried to make a stereo mount yourself. So, John, if it sounded
like I bristled at some of your original comments, it was a reaction
to comments that sounded critical of the efforts of a colleague for
whom I have the utmost respect. I'm sorry if you took offense, and,
like David, I urge you not to react by withdrawing.

I also hope that you, and many others, will soon upgrade from tabbed
heat seal mounts to the new, improved heat seal mounts coming on the
market. Perhaps one day you'll even upgrade again to the ultimate
cardboard mounts, the ones made in Australia and designed by Steve
Spicer. :-)

Now everyone please take a break from these good 3D topics so I can
get enough sleep to drive safely to Albuquerque for PSA! ;-)
