I have been making stereo pairs lately on the computer using Corel
PhotoPaint.
These are for printing out to view in a Holmes viewer or with a lorgnette.
Also, for posting to the web as I did with the Seton Rochwite obituary
page. I
wrote down the steps used so I would not forget them the next time and would
like to share this with anyone interested. These steps would also work with
Adobe Photoshop although the terminology might be a little different.

SV PROCEDURE

1. Photopaint, new file
2. Get image size by opening in VuePro, make paper x2.25 the width in
pixels and
x1.25 height, color 255,255,204 (light yellow)
3. Edit, paste left image, then right image from file, adjust objects for
equal
margins above/below, and left/center/right. The space between the images
helps
with the window.
4. Mask, draw horiz line and move images to eliminate any vertical errors,
^D to
remove mask
5. If top/bottom cropping is necessary, then draw the mask and crop to align
tops and bottoms, then you must add paper back in to original size, make vert
size x1.25 of the new height, unclick "maintain aspect ratio" so that paper
width is not changed
6. Text tool, size 16, centered, type in caption below one image
7. Object, duplicate, move dup over to other image. This makes the caption
stereo.
8. Object, combine all with background
9. File, save as jpg of quality 32, this is for printing and publications
10. Image, resample for width=800
11. File, save-as "filename"+800, quality=128, this is for web pages

Please ask questions as I could write a full page on each step.

The cards are printed out in portrait format for a 7" card, or in landscape
for
a 10" card. The 800 pixel wide web photos may be a little wide for many
people
to view, but when you have the right viewer, they are much better than the 400
pixel pairs. Viewers include Omniscope, Freeviewer's assistant, and
side-by-side VueMagic. Some people can use a regular lorgnette for 7" cards,
but I can't with my 19" screen.

Hope someone can use this information

Regards -Ralph
