Truer words were never uttered. We live in a world that produces new
technology that is improved rapidly, to a point where if you want a fast
computer today, you can buy it. You can then upgrade it in the next 6
months when something faster comes along, or wait until the end of the
year and do it all over again.
Everything I have is old, but serves me well. I spent lots of years in
the High Tech World of Modems, Network Cards, Palm Pilot Manufacturing. I
really hated to purchase anything because I knew that something faster
would come out as soon as my Visa bill was due.
I run a slow laptop with only 64mb of memory. It suites me fine for now
and for the forgeable future. Mike is correct. Buy what YOU need not the
latest and greatist flavor of the day.
The best approach is to determine what your needs are today and find the
best deal. If you want to make digitally printed stereo cards, most
printers will serve you well. Do you want exceedingly high resolution? Do
you want the best possible quality? Be prepared to spend lots of money
for a computer that is fast enough to manipulate 600 mb or more files and
thousands for the printer capable of printing them with a high
resolution.
