I have not atempted to take Kirlian photographs yet or even though about
it, but now that you mention it! I believe conventional Kirlian photographs
are taken using film sandwitched between to capacitor plates with an
insulating layer laid on top on which the subject is placed, not much scope
for 3-D photography there.
However Kirlian movies have been made and I think these use something like
the "Plasma Balls" which are quite popular as home ornaments. If you look
at your hand from the opposite side of the ball you see something very like
a colour Kirlian image in real time which could be filmed. So it should
also be possible to to take a photograph with a Macro 3-D set up although
the plasma patterns are small and you cannot get that close, the central
electrode is also a bit intrusive.
A better bet might be one of the new devices which are a flatter disc
rather than a globe which should also have less distortion, as well as
allowing you to get much closer, the central electrode is also
smaller.Incidentaly I dont believe these Kirlian images reveal any sort of
mystical aura, it is just a discharge produced by a Tesla coil, the hand
completes the circuit through the glass globe despite it being an insulator
because of the intense electrostatic field involved and because earth is
used as part of the circuit.Without the glass globe or insulator there
would be a severe electic shock maybe even lethal, gas at reduced pressure
produces the coloured discharge.
In the original version I think the very thin layer of air at normal
pressure had the same effect. the ridges on the finger give rise to
individual plasma filaments and any uniqueness of the patterns is due to
that of finger prints.
