And it has not changed, either. From the beginning, practically every
photograph used in advertising was retouched in some way. The use of an
airbrush was almost mandatory. Background removal, removing creases in
clothes and skin, adding and removing various elements, all this and
more, was done to enhance the image in some fashion or another. If you
think Photoshop is hard to use correctly, try using an airbrush.
