Perhaps I should have said, it takes comparatively little skill to use
Photoshop compared to what it takes to do the same thing in a darkroom. I
disagree that there is relatively limited amount of control in the
camera. There is lots of things one can do if prepared.

My oh my how this discussion has evolved. 

Certainly not, automatic exposure control causes me no problems. Many
beginners use it - feel free to use it too. For me, I never use automatic
control as it is not a necessity. Neither is excessive bracketing or
excessive contrast or other factors that some have problems with.

Remember, when I use an exposure meter, I am also using a computer. As
for using a Jobo Timer, here again, feel free. I use a timer, everyone
uses a timer, a timer is needed for the most part. Very much needed -
especially if processing color.
