I think it'll also depend upon the publisher and how
controlled they want to be in how the product looks. At
least in my experience, HTML documents can look very different
depending upon what it's looked at with. PDF's are pretty
controlled and the layout will be precisely what the author intends.
So for me, it depends upon what I'm doing. If creating for
someone to print out on their printer, like a newsletter in
"magazine style", then I'd strongly prefer a PDF. If it's for
online interactive reading and viewing, then probably an
HTML document.
