Not to be a contrarian, but a recent Coolpix or equivalent 
digital camera and a slide bar in skilled hands (such as John 
Billingham's) can yield extremely nice stereo pics, at the very 
least quite satisfying for Internet display. Take a look at the best

But the price of matchbook-sized hard disks with about a 
gigabyte capacity can only go down... Granted that the latest 
greatest technology isn't cheap, but the bar is rising at an 
exciting rate and bang for the buck can only get better and 
better.

But there are the large format Polaroid cameras (20" x 24"?!) 
that are supposed to be out of this world. These cost a pretty 
penny to use or rent, but the results are supposed to be worth 
every penny.  :>)
