I have noticed people from New York City have this fear
more than others... even if they move away to, say,
San Diego.

Let's qualify this "if you don't care"....

I do care.

I am just not going to die if this happens. And the
statistics indicate that the probability of this
happening is so low that I should not worry. And
if it happens it is not the end of the world.

My statistics: I joined the Stereoscopic Society in
1992. So we have, 8 years times 3 folios times 10
folios a year, times 20 stops per folio = 4800 mail
stops. The OX folios go to England, New Zealand,
Australia, and back the USA. That's a lot of stops.
Three years later they are back in my hands.

There is more irrational fear than facts here. I had
this fear too at first. 4800 mail stops later, the
fear is a distant memory.

And yes, in SSA almost everyone circulates originals
as they should. The images are viewed in a viewer,
not projected. But even in projected PSA Salons I do
send originals. OK, 10 years later this image will not
be the same but it has lived its useful life. I am
an amateur and don't depend on these pictures to
make a living.
