Herbert Maxey replies to Jim Harp's quote, based on a comment I had made in
response to a question by Dr. T
<< >>If memory serves you once received a letter in less than a week from an
e-bay customer in Taiwan who addressed the envelope as follows: "Sheldon
Aronowitz - USA"<< >>
<<You were very lucky, or a little more info was actually provided as to
the address. I know of cases where this has happened, but the USPS opened
up the letter and found additional info inside. Also, there is a special
group of people that try to uncover addresses as well. Perhaps more went
on than is mentioned. Did the USPS just get lucky? Is there only one
person by that name? >>
Paul Talbot responded that these tales are not appropriate for this group -
so let me answer the question from Herbert Maxey, and say that all future
comments can be sent to me directly. The envelope was not opened and there
are, I think, 9 or 10 Sheldon Aronowitz's in the USA - based on a web search.
So someone in the USPS must have just picked one at random and I got lucky.
In the envelope was payment in cash for an eBay item! - and it ended up in my
mailbox without any other markings on the envelope! - and it took weeks for a
perfectly addressed letter from Jim Harp, who lives 45 minutes from me, to
get to me!!
