I have fixed a few of these by soaking the entire unit in a solvent like
naphtha and then getting in from the side and straightening one of the pieces
of metal with a needle nosed pliers.  The archives may have some techniques.
Short of that you have to drill out the rivets and redo the insides.  That
takes a bit more work.
