[photo-3d] Realist
Hi people,
I have two 3.5 Realists, a macro Realist, two Kodaks, a TDC, a
Revere, and a Sputnik. I've dropped, fallen with, and kicked my
Realist. It's fallen out of a jacket while on a bicycle, tumbling end
over end on asphalt at twenty miles per hour. I've fallen down a
mountain side with the Realist. I've fixed the shutter with my
swiss army knife in the Everglades. It still takes great pictures. I
dropped one Kodak once, it broke internally, The TDC has never
worked properly, The Revere is ok but I have a Realist that I don't
have to take the film out of before I pound my tent stakes in. Now
I have a problem, once I tweeked the Sputnik ( many thanks to
Paul Talbot) I can't use it enough. The slides are great, medium
format has hooked me. The reason we use the old cameras is
they work! That's why people still use the large format, because
of the image it creates. RBTs seem to be great cameras. I hope I
own one someday. The price isn't bad for what it is, the points
have all been made on what makes it expensive. Price just the
optics, not the new plastic ones but quality glass lenses. Go buy
two nice NEW 35mm cameras with all the bells and whistles
and you could easily spend what an RBT costs, then you still
have to link them somehow. I'll keep my Realists and Sputnik, I'll
keep control over the creativity because they are completely
manual ( I think it's an asset ). Do you really want a computer
chip to take the picture? The reason I'll always use stereo
cameras? Because people WANT to see my vacation slides and
it's so much fun. Lifes to short to worry about unimportant things.
Find out what works for you then use it! When ya'll figure out
what's best let me know, I have to go take more pictures.
