I haven't used color negative film since I started doing 4x5 (over
five years ago now), possibly longer. The biggest advantage of slide
film is that it is it's own color reference. When I want a print
(Ilfochrome, formerly Cibachrome) made I tell the lab to match the
slide. With negative film you can wind up having to have the job
redone in order to match the color you saw when you took the photo but
the lab tech didn't (because he wasn't there).
For anyone shooting formats other than 35mm (or wanting large prints)
the equivalent of the Fuji Frontier 370 is the Lightjet. For anyone
interested there is currently a thread in
rec.photo.equipment.large-format where someone discusses his
experience having some 16x20 Lightjet prints made (from drum scans).
