No one has mentioned this, but in all this discussion SAFETY can be an
issue. If you work with 110/220/any other voltage, you can fry if you are
not careful. If you are not sure what you are doing, ask an electrician
to install a new power cord.

Trust me on this, but more than one person has met a smokey spark filled
death because some assumed simple job went bad.

Be careful.
