One of the problems with "plastic" is that several very different
materials are all generically called "plastic". I seem to recall that
it was the older storage sleeves that were a problem. The
polyethylene sleeves I am using are (currently) considered safe for
long term storage. Polypropylene is also considered safe. PVCs are
not safe.
I buy my supplies at Light Impressions
<URL:http://www.lightimpressionsdirect.com/>, but there are other
vendors who sell supplies for archival storage.
Richard Knoppow, Mike Gudzinowicz and Dr. Doug Nishimura (of IPI) have
posted a lot in rec.photo.darkroom about photo processing and
preservation. A search of dejanews (especially since this past
September) should turn up a lot of useful information.
