I really have to take a some exception to this.

If all the energy and time WE spend on 3d photos were redirected to some
"noble" cause, I doubt we'd be so much further along.

We need diversions, and you never know where inspiration will strike.
Perhaps without star wars, we wouldn't be interested in mars....

I remember having a useless conversation with a man who was certain that
nothing good came from the space program. He was unconvincable.
