Yes, and that system was covered extensively in the famous 3D issue of
American Cinematographer. After reading it, I contacted the StereoVision
for more information regarding their system, I was hoping to duplicate it
experimentally. Daniel Symmes was gracious to speak with me about it and
gave me some additional information about this type of single lens stereo
photography. 

A similar system can be produced with a split filter at the film plane.
All that is needed is a red and green gel filter fitted together with a
small space between them. A Neutral Density  filter is also used to
compensate for the different filter factors between the colored filter.

Drawings of the system are also available in the Patent literature.

INCIDENTALLY, I know that American Cinematographer  is publishing a book
about stereo and someone you all know is writing it. I will not mention
the name because it might generate e-mail that the author really does
not. No, it is not me. Should be fascinating to read.
