I know what you mean. Though I have never seen anyone here in
California using a stereo camera in public (besides myself), I am
amazed at the number of people who figure it out that somehow I am
taking "special pictures". They notice the two lenses and usually
ask about it. My View-Master Personal camera seems to be the easiest
for some people to figure out that it is somehow taking 3d pictures.
My Realist confuses most people with the "lens in the middle". Years
ago, while photographing a friends wedding with my Nimslo, the
wedding photographer asked me if the four lenses were for making
automatic duplicates. When I explained how I used the first and last
frames for stereo slides, he replied, "that's alot of film wasted for
a special effect". That comment still amuses me.
