As I understand it, the idea of the device at Burning Man was not to 
replicate what you can do by stepping outside and looking around you, but to 
give the viewer a Brobdignagian sense of stereopsis by vastly increasing the 
stereo base through the use of a fancy pair of periscopes.  I'm interested in 
the outcome too, but I don't see the irony, dude.
