Bakelite is a very difficult thing to fix. I say difficult from my point
of view because the resto must be as perfect as possible. I have seen
lots of attempts and discussions on other mailing lists, but it can be
tough. I think you should search for information and possible fixes on
the Internet. Look for Antique Radio Restoration related sites because
the folks that restore Bakelite want perfection.

You might find newer approaches and materials for doing the work. It is a
popular plastic, and the question regarding fixes are always coming up. 

Bakelite was a popular plastic to use for making a wide variety of
products. Due to the way it is processed, it is difficult to fix.
