I got a Nikon CoolScanIII, and am happy with it. I havent used the
multi-slide tray though, nor have I modified it in any way. the scanning
software learning curve is a little steep at first, but its all do-able.
I also have a HP PhotoSmart scanner. it scans slides, negs and small prints
(coolscan doesnt scan small prints), but the PHotosmart is annoying if
scanning negatives (not slides). It spits out the neg strip after scanning
each frame, so if you want to scan multiple frames, you have to re-insert.
the nikon (thank god) doesnt do this. But the PhotoSmart has a super-easy
scanning software. for slides, if you dont mind feeding them in one at a
time, the PhotoSmart is a better deal (Nikon goes up to 2700dpi, PhotoSmart:
2400dpi).
I used to think I wanted to bulk-scan my negs, but then after I started
scanning, I saw that so often, I wanted to adjust/balance color/contrast, I
saw that every frame is so unique, I didnt want to bulk-scan.

I am thinking of buying a Nikon Coolscan III, Coolscan LS2000 or CanoScan
2710. Has anyone used these.......with the trays modified to hold stereo
slides? Any problems or preferences using these three with stereo slides?
Help! Thanks. Robert James
