[photo-3d] Re: RBT Mounts and film curl

Dr.T's advice concerning the malleability of the 0.5 RBT pinbars
is worth taking. Areas on the pinbar plastic can be deformed by
pressure as needed, to improve the fit. The 1.0 and 2.0 pinbars,
being a harder plastic of a different type, seem to resist this
kind of manipulation.
As for curl or cupping of film, it's been my experience that
environmental factors and time are important. If the chips in
my sorting boxes aren't flat after cutting and are therefore
difficult to mount, waiting a day or two, depending on the
weather, can make a great difference. Film was flat when it
was made, and this seems to be its natural, preferred state
when given time to reach equilibrium. Curl along either axis,
due to packaging or processing, should quite naturally relax
and even out, given the right environment, even if the film isn't
held under tension or reverse curled. Don't you find, if you ever
remount views, that detached chips from past mountings are
dead flat, and remain so when detached?
