It's been quite an interesting discussion so far and I think I'm getting
an idea of what I'd recommend to a "newbie".  For a child, I would
probably start them off with the Loreo so that the "instant
gratification" of processing and viewing the prints could enhance the
stereo experience.  For an adult, I would first determine what type of
photo experience they have.  If it's point-n-shoot only, a Loreo would
again be a good first time choice with a twin-camera rig as a second
choice.  If there's some SLR non-auto experience or the person is a
"tinkerer", perhaps one of the realist-format stereo cameras.

Still, of all the formats I've used over the last few years, I have to
admit I've had the most fun with the Viewmaster camera.  I love the fact
that I can take so many pictures and that I can make reels that my kids
can view through a VM viewer.  Adults too like the format because
they're already used to VM and are surprised to see homemade reels.
