In a message dated 00-12-01 05:58:00 EST, Jim Harp Writes:

<< For the past few years Cambridge Camera in New
York has had quite a few Ricoh XR-10Ms (used, returned, remainders?)
available for between $125-180, but I have the sense that their supply of
Ricohs in good condition is diminishing. >>

It has become increasingly difficult to find good Richos at Cambridge. I
used to be able to go in and go through the Richos and find 3 or 4 good ones
in a matter of half an hour. I did this every so often for myself and others
without any problem. I went a few weeks ago to find one for Jim Harp and it
took me quite a while and quite a number of cameras to find a decent one.
Some problems are cosmetic, others are functional, but the days of finding 3
- 4 are over. I think you need at least 3 to cover yourself. I would
recommend 4 or 5. Best bet is now to find them at camera shows, but they
rarely show up there. I go to 2 major camera shows a month and once in a
while I will see one for sale - usually for about $150 or so. Maybe eBay
will prove to be a source. It is a great system, reliable, lenses are easy
to find(Pentax K-mount) and cheap, and hypers are a snap. Good luck to
anyone looking.
