Are you describing the technique of twinning the KR/XR-10Ms by simply
connecting the remote release sockets with micro mini plugs? I don't
know about the point-and-shoot Ricohs (are those the 35Rs?) but with
the KR/XR-10Ms this will only provide accurate synchronization if
both Ricoh's light meters are "awake". After 30 seconds the KR/XR-
10Ms go into power saving mode with the meter inactive. In this
state the shutters fire out of sync by about 1/4 second. This lack
of sync is easily discernable by the sound of the two shutters
firing. You can "wake up" the cameras by gently pressing the
shutter, thus restoring the synchronization, but it's easy to forget
to do this when composing a shot. Another caution for anyone using
the remote release jacks to synchronize these cameras is to be
careful to provide stress relief for any attached cable. The remote
jacks aren't particularly rugged, and once the jack's connection
starts to fail the cameras will act erratically. Otherwise the
Ricohs are quite well built and in my case have endured lots of rough
handling without ever failing. The direct three wire connection of
the shutters completely solves the aforementioned problems.
