I have a very similar dual cable release built for me by John
Billingham (who isn't in the business of building cable releases) and
it works great.  By ablancing the two plungers on your thumb you can
feel when each cable hits the shutter mechanism before tripping it and
adjust for differences in length, tension, etc.  This works much
better than the Olympus Y cable release I had.  The Olympus didn't
even last through one field trip.
