[photo-3d] Re:photo3-d shadow 3d?
to mr MARBLE:
No doubt, depth cues can be delivered by shadows !
Being intrigated with your mail dated 21st Nov. I have attempted to realize 3D pictures in three conditions (taking a small music stand as the subject):
1° taking 2 successive shots of the L.and R shadows given by moving the light source
2° taking 2 successive shots of the shapes of theses shadows
3° taking the picture of the anaglyphic drawings of the L and R shadows.
Only the second method gives good results:
In the first case, the shadows are blurred and their lines cannot provide useful 3D cues.
In the third case, impediments arise from rendering the complementary colours applied on the two shadows (colour temperature of the source, chromatic response of the film layers)....
In the second case,a good stereo pair results in drawing the different shadows (L /R) on a white board, with a black marker, the light being moved from L to R, on nearly 9 centimeters.
This experience proves that parallax can be obtained in moving the camera- as usual- as well as moving the light source.
Only a matter of common sense !
