[photo-3d] Hi from South Africa again

Hi there again,
Let me introduce the South African 3D side - My name is Andre Grove,
and I am still reletavely new to 3D in general. My interest in 3D was
largely due to me trying to import a 3D movie into the country. As a
child I remember seeing "It's coming at you" and I was hooked. Sadly
to say untill recently 3D has gone by unnoticed. This year however
had a bit of a change in scenery. Our large Theme Park in Cape Town
got a 8 min IWORKS film with Elvira as main guest. Sadly the screen
is white and it in turn causes the image to ghost badly at times.
At the same time Cape town also accuired a 3D ride movie- I have been
unable to trace the source of these movies but they are projected via
2 poloroid projectors, and make for some nice 3D. My search for 3D
photographers in South Africa has left me largely without any luck. I
did trace a young guy who was doing nude 3D photo's but as a hobby. I
have also found a old 3D slide projector but because of lack of
photographic equiptment I have not purchased it.
This year also saw 3D olympics and 3D movies on our local television
station - using lenticular filming, they were received with mixed
reaction. I was also given heaps of Toy Story comics in 3D - these
are comics which utilise the clear lence system (blue creates deepest
depth). I will gladly swap some of the comics for other 3D comics if
there are any interested people. I am also prepared to lend my
Lenticular movies to any interested parties in exchange for lending
some anaglyph or stereoscopic movies, these are obviously copyrighted
and I can not offer to make copies.
My interest lies mainly in the web development of 3D - I am currently
in the process of creating a 3D web site which features our game
parks and other natural outdoor tourist attractions in 3D - this
will be in the form of 3D video and 3D web cams. At this time I am
finding it very difficult to find a sponser who could sponser a
nuview camcorder adapter for the project, due to the declining rand
against the dollar 3D equiptment has become pricey. If any person on
the group has any leads I would appreciate it.
I hope that it sheads a little light on the South African side, I
will let the group know if any news becomes available on 3D matters
in South Africa.
Last thought - I mentioned in my last post how I wish they will
provide 3d imax movies in South Africa - sadly the Imax South Africa
branch has gone into liquadation - I will have to come to America to
see it now
greetings
Andre
