[photo-3d] Time Capsule

A time capsule was buried in Columbus Georgia last week, to hopefully
show folks at some future date artifacts and material from the year 2000.
I am the only stereographer in this city, the 2d biggest in Georgia, and
I feel honored by being asked if I wanted to place some stereo related
items in this capsule. I put in 10 Stereo Cards, including ones of
President Bill Clinton and VP Al Gore. Columbus Mayor Bobby Peters, and
one of me flying a CH54 during my last flight as a Army Aviator in 1978.
I also put in a plastic Keystone stereoscope, a copy of the Bill C Walton
3D-CD Project and it's two viewing devices. Whether or not any of these
things will last or be usable when the capsule is opened in ???? is
questionable, but at least WE TRIED.
There seems to have been some pretty good planning on the Time Capsule.
It was properly sealed, the air was pumped out and replaced with nitrogen
before it was buried. It was buried in our Millenium Plaza which is
covered in bricks on which folks could have their names placed, for a
small fee. Right next to the time capsule is "our brick" which reads
Krys & Bill Walton Sep 1954 This is the date we were married.
This is my 2d experience with a Time Capsule. In 1989 one was buried in
front of the Fort Benning Headquarters Building. It wasn't very big and
my participation in it was rather limited. Three photographs, including
one Stereo Card and a set of stereo negatives were all I could put in it.
Happy New Year
