Hello Tony,
I am looking at a picture and description of the camera from
Prof. Weiser's book.
The dial in the right lens sets the shutter speed at follows:
- B (shutter stays open while release button is pressed)
- Shade (1/25th sec)
- Normal (1/50 sec)
- Very bright (1/100 sec)
The dial in the other lens must set the aperture since
it is mentioned that the aperture varies from f/6.3 to
f/18 continuously and I don't see any other dial to
do that. In the picture I see this dial is marked in
flash settings. I have to assume that the "Flash 5ft"
setting corresponds to the smaller aperture (f/18) and
"Daylight and Flash 12 ft" corresponds to the widest
aperture (f/6.3)
THE FOCUS IS FIXED (no focusing adjustment for this baby)
Now, I know that when this camera was produced, the
recommendation for "sunny 16" rule was f/6.3, 1/50 sec
and focus at 20ft for Kodachrome 10.
Based in this information, I assume that the focusing
is fixed at around 15-20ft. Given that today's films
are much faster than the original Kodachrome 10, if you
use a 100 speed film on a sunny day, then you should set
the camera at very bright (1/100 sec) and the "Flash 5ft"
setting.
Good luck!
George
