[photo-3d] Promoting "stereoviewing"

As we move into the New Year, greetings!
The "Loose Chips" items appearing inside the cover of the July/August
issue of Stereo World lead me to wonder whether or not we are
entering an era of increased awareness of 3D on the part of the
general public. Calendars, theme parks, movies, and interactive
stereo exhibit in Seattle, that will go on tour! All are listed
there, along with competitions and exhibitions that could well yield
a wealth of images for presentation to the public.
Year 2000 saw the Sports Illustrated distribution of 3D images. It
brought the making of new prints of classic 3D movies (House of Wax,
Kiss Me Kate, and Miss Sadie Thompson were all shown at the Film
Forum in NYC.) There were exhibitions in Juneau, Alaska, and in
Paris, France, in which stereo images were assembled to show the
history of each place, and at the same time to introduce visitors to
various aspects of the techniques of producing and viewing stereo
imagery.
What new things shall we do in 2001 to stimulate interest and
activity in the wider audience that we loosely call the general
public?
Rather than to clutter up this list with strings that deal with
efforts at promoting stereoviewing, I have initiated another eGroup
list to focus the ideas and energies of any of you who may share this
interest in exhibitions and events.
The new group is called "stereoviewing"
Any ideas, such as Dr. Dave's earlier questions regarding ways to
organize slide shows (Message: 22

From: "David W. Kesner" <drdave@xxxxxxxxxx>
Subject: How to put together a stereo slide show?)
[Yes, I did keep the whole string of e-mail that followed his
question. I intend to put together some slide shows with my
new "Modern Magic Lantern 3D" system, actually a set of synched Fader
Projectors designed by Bob Brackett.]
Even your wildest innovations by which to encourage and spread stereo
experiences are welcome, but let's keep this suitable for general
audiences. ;-)
Well, the southern NY snowstorm is easing, so I will get off this
computer for a while in order to look at the foot, or so, of new
snow. I wonder whether or not we will get to First Night Saratoga
tomorrow. Hope so.
