In the interest of making this simpler for beginners (and those of us
who use stereo cameras that do not interleave alternating pairs), you
might want to label the chips 1R, 1L, 2R, 2L. I think your A, B, C, D
refers to the order the chips appear on the uncut film strip, but I'm
not sure.
