[photo-3d] Beginner needs direction

I'm just starting to get my bearings with stereo photography. I'm
using a digital camera (Olympus E-10, cha cha style) because I like
the immediate feedback. I'm printing six inch stereo pairs and
viewing them with a home made optical viewer. I'm interested in using
front surface mirrors to fabricate both a viewer for larger prints
and a beam splitter for the end of my SLR so I can shoot both halves
simultaneously. Is there some sort of reference on the web or in
print that will give me some direction for these two projects?
