I have a Belplasca, and I had a Reverre. I have used
all of the popular 50's cameras at one time or
another.
When you look at the general overview, there is no
comparison... The Belplasca is the way to go (If you
can find it for a price you can spare).
It bugged me (at first)that there is no rangefinder,
but you get used to that especially if you shoot with
hyperfocal settings at small aps.
It bugged me (at first) that there is a seperate
cocking for the shutter, but it isn't as bad as
cocking on some cameras.
The Revere has a rangefinder, and will cock the
shutter for you as you advance the film and is about
1/5 the price of a Belplsca, so if all you care about
is ease of use and price then you are ok.
But, if you want 7p images instead of 5p, if you want
MUCH sharper pictures (Zeiss optics), then the
Belplasca is the one.
Personally I think that if you don't get the
Belplasca, consider getting a TDC Colorist2 (not the
first one). That was my favorite one before the
Belplasca. Much easier to use, great optics, and even
takes a normal flash with no adapters!
