Peter,

The FEDBOY camera would not take a picture on the Auto setting ie 
shutter would not operate - however it would operate when it was set 
to one of the aperture settings.  I think this is the same behaviour 
as when there is a flat battery or when there is low light.  I don't 
know if the FEDBOY is very susceptible to moisture - it certainly 
didn't get obviosly wet but we had 6 very wet days in a row and also 
it might have got a few drops of rain on it which I wiped off - I 
tried with (more than one) new battery but it didn't fix it.

I would be interested to know from other FED owners whether they have 
had any intermittent loss of the Auto function on their cameras - I 
feel that my moisture theory is reasonable as prior to it remedying 
itself we had a week in the hot dry atmosphere of Mexico City - this 
is of course the only example of the atmosphere of Mexico City fixing 
anything!  I would be tempted to take a sealable bag and some silica 
gel on future extended trips
