in 1999 on a trip to Chamonix in the French alps the auto exposure of my Fed failed me almost completely but I did not realise until the slides were developed. Strangely they were a mix of over and under exposure, in the past I have found that the trapped needle of the exposure mechanism becomes bent and is no longer able to move, but that did not seem to be the case this time. Since then the exposure has been okay, the weather was actualy quite warm although it had beeen wet and was still a bit cloudy when we first arrived for a fortnight. Also on a very wet trip to Norway I had problems with damp getting into the lens elements which later dried out but the auto exposure worked okay. P.J.Homer
