The 8,000 mile stereo base for taking pictures of the moon at sunset 
and sunrise could only be achieved if you went down (or up) to the 
equator and took the pictures as the moon was on the horizon.  The 
further away from the equator you are, the less the stereo base.  At 
the poles, there would be none.  Also, in order to get consistent 
contrast and color, I would think the pictures would need to be taken 
against a black sky, meaning that the moon would no longer be on the 
horizon.  This translates into more loss of stereo base.
