Halogen bulbs for the Red Button and similar viewers are
available from several vendors, including Rocky Mountain
Memories, Berezin Stereo Photography Products, and DrT.

The smallest standard fluorescent tube is the F4T5 bulb available
many places. They are 5-1/4 inches long, not including the pins
on the ends, and take 6 volts. You can purchase the "Cool White"
version of this bulb from Rocky Mountain Memories www.rmm3d.com
at the same time you purchase the halogen bulbs! :-)

You'll probably need to go to a place like Fry's or digikey
if you want to build your own fixture from the ground up. But
lamp fixtures for the F4T5 tube are inexpensive, so consider
whether it is worth the effort to "re-invent the wheel."
