[photo-3d] Nimslo flash modification

I took my modified Nimslo used for CU shots. E.g. 2 frame advance, Cokin
compact camera adapter added with a +3 diopter (object distance 12.3 inches),
counter reset hole drilled).
The 47k ohm resistor Burder modification works perfectly. I just used a
standard Radio Shack 5% tolerance 1/4 watt resistor and a Radio Shack
momentary contact switch (normally open type). I was able to reach the
necessary parts on the circuit board that spans the photocell with only
removal of the camera top. There's a well behind the shutter release that
leaves plenty of room for the switch. The switch is visible in the photo as
the red button behind the shutter button. I opted for this configuration,
because it allows me to push down the shutter lock option and just rock my
finger forward to release the shutter release while holding the lock.
You need to use large tweezers to hold the wire while soldering, and lay off
the coffee (a steady hand is necessary), other than that, pretty straight
forward. Be sure to cover the exposed connection between the resistor and the
wire with heat shrink tubing to ensure the circuit isolation.
The button stops the flash down to the minimum-- f11? and flash synch is still
there (tests done with a Vivitar 283).
Georges, I really appreciate your post-- I was suspecting an added diode
somewhere to isolate the flash circuit-- glad to know I was wrong!
