It's been working perfectly for me! I've got a pair of Canon EOS IXs (APS
SLRs) right now...but I'm thinking about moving up to a pair of the new EOS
ELAN 7s. You do *not*, by the way, need to retain one of the electronic
button ends of the wired remotes (as Jim suggests in his article). All you
need is a single cable with a 2.5mm mini jack on both ends. Once the cable
is connected to the two camera bodies, touching either one of the shutter
buttons will cause the other to react in perfect sync. I found this out
after first splicing the two wires into a single button end (and it's pretty
tight in there, I might add!) like Jim did. I then proceeded to use the rig
that way for about a month. I felt like some kind of "old-time
photographer," though, having to constantly hold onto a wired release. One
day, I was sitting at my dining room table, wishing that the Canons could be
connected just like Nikon's N90s/F100/F5 cameras, with just a simple little
cable. I thought to myself, "Gee, wouldn't it be nice if I could just push
down on one of the shutters and both cameras would fire?" I then pushed down
on one of the shutters...and "BANG!" both cameras fired at once! That was
enough for me! I quickly took my double remote apart and just spliced the
two wires together. Bingo! A solution that's exactly the same as Nikon's.
Too bad Canon doesn't make such a cable! Of course, Nikon's MC-30 remote
cable is more expensive than the two Canon RS-60E3 wired remotes put
together, so I guess having to make my own little cable wasn't too bad! ;-)

Jay
