First, I agree with Dave. If you know what you're looking for, search
for it specifically. I have never used the categories on ebay. Often
I'm surprised by the category that an item I've searched for has been
filed under. I search for a specific item number (if I've seen an
auction announcement), or a seller (generally I will only buy from
people I know), or an item (e.x., "graflex flash", "caltar lens"). In
Paul's example a search for "sputnik camera" is pretty obviously the
easiest way to find what he's looking for.
Second, complaining here about a change in ebay policy doesn't do
anyone any good. Let ebay know about your concerns. They are the
only ones who can make the change that many want.
