I must be missing something here. There seems to be a consensus
that non-achromatic print viewers suffer more from chromatic
aberrations than non-achromatic slide viewers.
I tend to see about the same amount of chromatic regardless if
it's a print or slide. This is with simple convex glass lens
print and slide viewers in both cases.
One shouldn't forget that slide viewers have much shorter f.l.
than print viewers and therefore have a higher degree of
chromatic aberrations. Looking through the optical centers,
the tendency would be less aberrations, but only in the center
of the image. If your not fortunate enough to have matching
eye spacing, your out of luck!
Print viewers have a much longer f.l. Therefore even viewing
off center as is required with prints, the aberrations are not
necessarily as pronounced, even taking into account the
prismatic element of some viewers.
Now I do have to admit, those cheap plastic prismatic
lorgnette print viewers are much more colorful ;-) than those
cheap Radex slide viewers!
